Mamanta
Incubation Program Partner
Mamanta translated is the Tiwi word for ‘Friends’. Be it in business or community, collaboration and positive purpose underpins all Mamanta relationships. The concept of working together as friends is a central feature of the Mamanta philosophy.
About Mamanta
Mamanta Directors Tammy Abala and Shane Tipuamantamerri are partners in life, work and business. Parents, role models and entrepreneurs, Tammy and Shane’s strong social values drive their desire to grow prosperity and equity for the local community.
Working with all Tiwi communities and a diverse network throughout the Top End, Mamanta works to strengthen culture, create job and learning opportunities, support community-led programs and inspire others by leading a successful business.
Operating between Milikapiti, a campground at Pitjiramirra on Melville Island and Darwin, Mamanta’s Immersion Camps encourage external businesses to learn more about the community and culture, to change their company’s approaches to bringing in and supporting local staff.
Mamanta harnesses their lived experience and local networks to ensure that the community’s cultural objectives are included in major projects and activities in the community, weaving this throughout all consulting and civil works.
After navigating a range of different programs, advice and seeking intensive support, Mamanta applied to participate in ELP’s Incubation Program. ELP is working with Tammy and Shane to develop strategies to grow capacity and expand their local workforce.

“By being globally minded citizens, we can role model best practices in all we do. We channel bigger picture perspectives into locally focused empowerment… And by harnessing the energy of great relationships we move forward together.
